Fault Log

2024 Apr-Jun

As part of our campaign to demonstrate how the use of older buses on the 95 route results in a less reliable service, we are taking note of all the times when there are reports of faulty buses on the 95 or the associated services...

Our records started on 1st April 2022 and we recorded 57 examples where the 95 service has been delayed by a faulty bus in the year up to 31st March 2023.

For the year 1st April 2023 to 31st March 2024 we recorded 37 faults reported as delaying the 95.

From 1st April 2024 to 30th June 2024 we recorded 8 further faults as below.

Not all bus faults result in Twitter posts - and not all delayed buses are caused by faults - indeed with all the other Twitter posts going on, it seems to us that even when we know that there has been a fault causing a delay to a 95 bus it often doesn't get reported on Twitter.

You can tell that it's sometimes difficult to determine what's going on, but we will continue to try to log all the faults we see with 95 buses:

This tweet didn't say the bus was faulty - but it's quite likely this was the case as instead of setting off for St Andrews the original bus was driven to the Aberhill depot to be replaced by 15658 - AE10 HFB which then ran the 95 service starting around 30 minutes late...

The 12:35 95 service from St Andrews on Sunday 16th June broke down in Crail outside Penman's Butchers - there was no tweet about this faulty bus - but it was still there 2 hours after breaking down...

So that was a bad day on Sunday 16th June with 2 of the 4 buses running the 95 service breaking down.
